Acquiring the knowledge and skills to become a professional involves training and study at degree level but there is a range of vital support roles that require no set academic qualifications for which an Access Diploma is an ideal way to maximise your job prospects, examples include:

Who are Access Courses for?

Access Courses are designed for people who would like to study at university but who left school without the usual qualifications, such as 'A' levels or GCSEs. They are also useful for changing career, entering employment supporting professionals and accessing work-based training.

Entry requirements - you must have a GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in English, Maths and a Science before you start the course. We recommend you contact your preferred university to ask about their particular entry requirements before you start, so we can advise on the best pathway for you. We also provide GCSE equivalences to add to your Access Diploma.

What do you study?

There is only one pathway for Teaching. It is the choice of Modules which results in your specialism.

If you complete a work placement you must have a CRB check before going into schools. This must be undertaken by DLC and may take up to 6 weeks. You will need to arrange this through your tutor and it will incur an additional charge.

Specialist subject areas include: Research Methods, Educational Theory, Learning Difficulties, Practical Teaching Skills, Human Biological Science, Biological Health & Disease, Psychopathology, Child Development & Welfare, Social Conflict, Social Interaction.
